gold on face shields?

I work in a steel mill and we use face shields with a gold? plating on them.That shields heat and uv rays. My question is it gold and would it be worth the time to salvage them ? Also what about gold welding lenses?

Those items strike me as having more value as useful objects than scrap. Sell them to rubes on ebay and buy gold with the proceeds, unless your looking for a project.

If it's gold, I'm sure that the plating is very very thin because you can see through it.

Maybe does not worth processing it for the moment.
