I have pins that i got from sata and IDE cables i got them from computers
Those pins are fully plated with gold and are not attrackted to magnets
So is the gold in this case plated on platinum?
If its plated on platinum then can i dissolve them directly in aqua regia then precipitate gold and platinum in 2 stages?

I have never seen or heard of a hard drive connector pin being made of platinum. There is no technological reason for it, so companies would not waste money doing it. Pins are usually a copper based alloy like brass. They are plated with nickel, then gold.

What kind of magnet are you using? If it's a "weak" magnet, like a refrigerator magnet, or one from a toy or something like that, it will probably not be attracted to the nickel layer under the gold. If it's a "strong" magnet like those from a hard drive, it should be at least slightly attracted to the nickel layer.
