I am planning on purchasing these two books.

The Sampling and Assay of Precious Metals: Comprising Gold, Silver, Platinum and the Platinum Group Metals in Ores, Bullion and Products: Ernest A Smith

Testing precious metals;: Gold, silver, platinum metals; identifying, buying, selling; a handbook for the jeweler, dentist, antiquarian, layman C. M. Hoke

Anyone have better suggestions?

So far I have never personally assayed anything, I am starting totally from scratch.

Thank You

The Smith book is one I like. Have never read the other.

You would also be interested in Bugbee and Shepard and Dietrich.

Both can be found here:

The Smith book is also there, compare price.

Thank you for the suggestions. Someone else mention Bugbee to me, both sound to be what I am looking for.
