Hello all I am NeroShakespere a gold refining noob. I am currently working on my first refine of old cpu and cell phone components. I decided to do this after one day looking to see what could be sold from my old laptops and after seeing the prices was curious as to why anyone would pay for what most consider junk. After watching numerous videos I realized there’s gold in dem there junk (and other precious metals). So me being the diy yourselfer I am and my love of science in general decided to try to do what most will not. I have to admit it is a task that you have to be patient with, and I have had some hiccups along this new journey already but I’m going to stick with it and pass the knowledge on to my kiddos. I am very excited to be apart of this community. I have already picked up some great tips by reading some post and look forward to being a positive and knowledgeable contributor to our refining endeavors….Ad Austra!

Welcome... you found the best place for information.

Ewaste can be picked up cheap/free if you know where to look.....but, it usually takes a lot of material to add up to something. Plus ewaste generally creates more waste that needs to be treated properly. In addition there's always a possibility of other toxic metals you need to be aware of.

YouTube video's are.....well, not always the most accurate. I also watch YouTube videos but I only watch creators I have found to be consistent with the information here on the forum.
