I would like to introduce myself. I have an electrical mechanical background. if have worked for the phone company, cable company, did lots of work on cell and microwave towers and was a industrial machine technician for 5 years. Ever since i was 14 and younger i have always scrapped metals. in my parents basement i used to melt circuit boards with a torch or just applying too much voltage through the boards. For some reason i am still alive and breathing well. Recently I have gotten a good case of gold and silver fever. After reading hooks book and browsing this great forum, I started my first ever chemical extraction. I put 3 cpu's, and a bunch clipped foils from ram and motherboards in a ball jar. Then i added 4 ounces of muratic acid, then 2 ounces of 3% Hydrogen peroxide . I then put 4 inches of water in a slow cooker turned it on low and set the jar in. it has been going for a few hours now and the solution is a dark green black. Pins are falling off the processors but the ceramic seems to be staying intact. My next project I have 4 pounds of gold plated component video cable ends that appear to have a lot of gold in them. For the cable ends I would like to make a sulfuric acid cell. I would like to get some more ideas for this. Well anyways I really like your forum and I will enjoy staying for a long time

I will be getting 2.5 liters of 50% nitric acid from Grainger tomorrow.
On hand I have 1.5 liters of battery acid,
2 gallons of Muratic,peroxide,and bleach.
I still need to get SMB

Welcome to the forum.
I didn't note the presence of stannous chloride. You do understand it's not an option, don't you?

Harold

I have not made any stannous chloride yet. And yes I understand testing the solution for PM's before discarding is important. I would not want to lose anything. I still need to find some cheap glassware and other odds and ends to really get going on this. I just checked on the slow cooker. The solution is very black now. The cpu's are still intact.

Thanks for the welcome Harold
