Hi everyone,

I have been making knives and doing metalwork for a while, exploring the artistic side of shapes and materials with blades. One of my family members was an ATM technician who amassed a bunch of circuit boards from repairs. I stripped off the gold fingers and saved them because I knew they were somewhat valuable. How does this line up with knifemaking? Well, materials like G10 and FR4 are very common for knife handles. Super durable and grippy. I took some of the motherboards and scraped all the components off, then epoxied 4 layers together to make handle scales. It turns out the cool green color with the small bits of solder and copper really pop when polished, revealing all the layers.

My reason for joining this form is because I am fresh out of circuit boards. I suspect that my issue is the opposite of a lot of people on this forum. Gold fingers and pins are really the by-product of what I make with the circuit boards. I do not need them. My hope in joining this forum is to find a source of circuit boards that would otherwise be thrown away or sent to a recycling facility. Ideally I use motherboard-size pieces so I can glue a lot of board together at once. To the people who read this, is there a specific part of the form where I could start my search for circuit boards?

Thank you
