Hello GRF members. Very excited to be joining this forum to explore a new avenue of income. I started scrapping a little over a year ago and have recently been moving more into the ewaste side of recycling. I am a member on another forum, scrap metal forum, and have been in contact with a few of the members here who have quickly become a great asset on smf.I hope I can return the favor to some of you here with what I know about scrapping. I have been getting more curious about the refining end of the ewaste market, and trying to learn as much as I can about the processes involved. I am reading as much as I can in my spare time, but not much of that with 3 kids around. I am not sure yet as to how far I can or want to go into refining my own materials, but the more I read and investigate, the more I understand that there is a lot of money being left on the table when dealing with scrap yards or the middleman who deals direct with the refiner. I also understand the risk and dangers involved in refining and I have no grand illusions that it is easy to do or that I will ever be able to refine anything. I will probably have some questions as I read thru things here, but I will make every attempt to search for the answer before asking.

One thing that was taught to me by an old time cop I once knew that I still adhere to to this day " Keep your eyes and ears open, and your mouth shut. This way you wont make a fool of yourself and you might learn a thing or two along the way"
I plan on conducting myself in this manner here as well.

Welcome to the forum! Here is the best thing you can do. Download the ebook Refining Precious Metal Wastes, by C.M. Hoke. Use the search bar and plug the book title in, and you will find a download link. Read the book ENTIRELY, do the familiarization exercises, read the book a second time and reference every MSDS sheet before you work with any chemicals. This is the foundation you will need.

Thanks for the welcome Palladium, glad to be here.
@sri- As far as Hoke I am in the middle of the first read thru. Thanks

Just an update....finished Hoke last night...have a book full of notes on all the processes. Lots of questions but not going to ask any yet. Next step is to read the msds sheets and then onto the handbooks volume 1 & 2. Have been prepping my ewaste and I am going to begin with fingers from memory and pci cards. Started investigating obtaining chemicals and equipment. I am leaning towards the ap method since I do not feel comfortable with having nitric acid around the house. I have a pool in the yard so I always have muriatic around and know how to store it. Thats where I am at so far, hope all is well and safe with everyone.

Glad to see you are still with us. Let us know if you have any questions sir and someone will be happy to answer them or point you in the right direction.

Yup still here just absorbing what I can right now. Its unbelievable the amount of knowledge that everyone contributes to this forum. May have a few questions in the coming days as I begin to prepare my work area and get all my ducks in a row so to speak.
