Hello everyone,
I'm a prospector in Western Australia and i reside in Perth, I thought i would introduce myself, most people call me Johno.
I have not really "Refined" gold before, but I'm keen to learn the methods, I have a basic understanding of the method of aqua regia and dropping the gold out of solution, but more knowledge is required.
This site and members appear to be very knowledgeable, which i find refreshing, as most members are aware of the amount of false or poor knowledge on youtube etc.
Currently the gold i find in specimen form consisting of gold and quartz/iron stone, i crush and pan off the fines which i melt with borax and soda ash and cast buttons, it seems to work but i suspect there are better/cleaner ways to smelt gold.
The following is a fairly recent one i did.
P.S click on the thumbnail picture if you want a bigger view
The weight was 32.5g after all said and done, Crude and simplistic but turns out alright.
So that's me, Thanks and i'll get back to reading all this information that's been provided from this great community.
Regards
Johno
