Other :I have always been a scrapper/picker/auction guy for a as long as I can remember. I am going through a retired jewelers lot right now and have a mess of scrap gold and figure that now is the time to get into reclaiming it from these items as well as electronics.

I read first and ask questions later, so I should have a low rate of Noob questions after I spend a few weeks reading all of the stuff in here and elsewhere.

I do have one question that I have not been able to find an answer to though and deem it worthy of asking here right away. In this old jeweler lot that I have, there is a kit with 2 containers for luminescing watch hands etc. there is a good chance that this batch is made pre-1960 which would mean that it contains radium if it is that old.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do with it? Proper disposal, etc.?Thanks in advance and I hope to learn lots and am sure that I will.

Those radium watch hands sell on Ebay,so there are collectors out there looking for them. Some are said to be osmium as well, I think they are blueish looking.

And thanks for the read first ask questions later statement.
I am sure a lot of people appreciate it.

As a moderator on a very large BBQ forum, I know what it is like. So many people get caught up with excitement and just want to ask questions when there are so many answers available. I can understand the excitement and we have a very good tolerance for it, but sometimes you just slap your forehead and have to say WTF. :)
