Hello to my new friends. I got bit by the PM bug. In my 50 years I have started quite a few professions, from auto mechanic, musician, electronics tech, salesman, building trades, back to sales, and now back repairing electronics. I have started many hobbies, but many just don't last for the long haul. I go all in with every interest, but lose interest after time goes by. Only one thing that I keep with, and that is fishing in the southeast Louisiana waters and marshes. I got a bit upset with out throw away, wasteful society, and started giving electronics a new lease on life if it's worth the outcome. Especially those 1979 pioneer receivers. After studying about all of our e-waste, I started looking into recycling. and how much of a fabrication that lie is that we have in these parts. Combine that with our state of economy, and I got gold fever. I know there isn't much in e-waste, but sure would be nice to figure an efficient and economical way to recover all the PM's I can. Science has always caught my attention. Physics, electricity, chemistry, has really been something I played with. Here I am, trying to learn a new hobby. It fills the area of interests, It could also help protect my retirement. Hopefully I can protect my health in the process. Who knows where knowledge will lead me? I just know I am not growing as a person, if I am not learning. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum. as you said, not much profit in e-waste, scrap the parts, sell on and cherry pick the goodies to recover and refine. This hobby can keep you interested for a lifetime, it might grow into a business or grow out of control.
But it can also kill you, slowly over years or real fast in one event.

Study, ask before you do, stay safe, and have fun!
