I am a little unsure what it is I have here and hope someone has some knowledge of this. I de-plated a gold ring, afterwards was left with a bright silver-shiny ring. I proceeded to melt it and upon it getting hot began to splatter. It also produced several small blueish fireballs as it cooled around the perimeter of the molten button. Any help? Thank you, Jason.

Pictures!

What type of torch was used?

Is it magnetic?

What color was the item after it cooled?

More information. Leave nothing out.

edit:
For the record, it sounds like it was plated zinc, nickel plated under the gold. Was it a piece of costume jewelry? How was it marked?

Blue flame is indicative of zinc.

Exercise caution in this, zinc oxides can cause metal fume fever.

What type of torch was used? It was an Oxy-Acetylene.

Is it magnetic? No it is not.

What color was the item after it cooled? It was gold color.

The ring was not marked.

It also has a grainy type appearance on inside of the button.

When it was heated it turned liquid, but soon after with additional heat it would spatter, then once heat was removed it would continue to sputter a little.
Thank you, Jason.
