hello to all again/., i have sum strips of copper but its still in the wire caseing its like the stuff from train tracks id say at a guess, now i dont have many tools or anythink but is there anythink i can soak the strips in to get the thick coating of plastic off with out lowering the price off the copper like burning it off wud do, household liquid wud be a bonus, chears kev

you need a wire stripper. I use a razor knife and pull the wire through a hole in wood with the knife on one side.

hey James ive been in the scrap business for years now and unless the scrap yard tells you specifically that they will lower the price on burnt cooper it will stay the same price whether burnt or not .

Mine will not give me number 1 unless it is bright clean copper.

I also fear loosing copper to oxidation in the fire, I do not know how much it would be, but I am sure there is loses.

Also you have the mess, stink and pollution to worry about
when burning it off. I always take the time to strip wires, or
just sell as is if they are too thin to mess with.
