Never got around to filling out a little bit about myself on here, soooo here goes..
My name's Derek. I live in New Hampshire and I own a pizza restaraunt with my lovely fiance in Lewiston, Maine called "Greco's Pizzeria" (check us out on Facebook). I also, at present, work in Mass. at a defense contractor (witholding the name, sorry). I work on optical assemblies for satellites (both civil and defense programs).
I'm a HUGE fan of music. My father played in bands all my life (mostly Top 40's, 50's and 60's bands). I pretty much grew up in singles bars, weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc. Having a father who was a musician helped me to grow up to be a very musically well-rounded person.
I've been an active member from early on, but I often don't have the time to really pursue anything related to precious metals recovery/refining. (Although if I had my druthers, that's what I would really prefer to be doing) Since I don't have a whole lot of time on my hands, I'm not around terribly often, but I do pop in occasionally and read the boards. The information on here is so much more interesting than reading the news or a book.. I've just always been a really curious person, hungry for knowledge. I'm not sure if I'll ever put much of it to use other than the occasional batch of fingers or sterling flatware or what-have-you, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
I think a good part of why I really sort of just "dabble" is because I don't have the luck or the time to find sources of scrap cheap. I've bought materials through the typical online sources, knowing full well that I was losing money, simply to put into use some of the information I've learned here.. a little practice for the fun of it, but as far as doing this to make any sort of profit (or at least not "wasting" money) I just don't seem to have the knack to gain access to raw materials.
Well, that's about it... see you all on the boards... I'll be the guy in the corner hanging out, occasionally throwing out the odd question or stirring up a light-hearted thinking session. Feel free to pull up a chair and have a cold one with me.
