My name is Marc, I'm 59 yo and I was a bench jeweler for 20 years. I am also a computer geek. I have been recycling computers for about 1.5 years and thought this is ridiculous. I am now venturing into extracting the gold and silver myself. Love reading the forums and I realize even with my experience I still have alot to learn. I'm sure I will be posting and look forward to the responses.

Welcome to the forum Marc.
We have members making jewelry from refined gold and silver, like i did our wedding rings.
I'm sure you can contribute a lot with that 20 years of experience.

Working with chemicals is an entirely different thing and you'll need to handle the toxic waste responsibly. The metals in solution are toxic so study and ask if you want to know which way to proceed with a certain material.
Beware there are recovery processes and refining processes.
This is to separate as much base metals as possible before going to refining the gold and silver and saves on expensive or hard to get acids and prevent problems with hard to filter salts.

Have fun and be safe!
