My name is Michelle - from Southern Nevada - very amateur looking for gold in mines off the 11 route near Searchlight Nevada. My husband and I met a woman ( being nice, at this point) who told us if we just paid for gas out there and paid for a smelting mold that she would smash the rocks and we would split the gold. She has bags and bags of rocks and I think she’s out for my husband. Is there an easier way to smash tricks with a machine. She also used a angle iron (?) To melt what she had but we bought the smelting mold and lo and behold she forgot the battery for the electric thermometer. I think she’s just after my husband to pay for her escapades. Did we get taken? Could we have been trespassing on private land? Thanks for your input.

The area near Searchlight is a hodgepodge of both private and public land. An accurate map, either from BLM, or Clark County Assessors Office could be helpful in that part.

As to any relationship with any individual who, if your description is correct, may be a bit of a problem, cut all ties immediately.

There are several prospecting clubs and associations in Clark County. Also a few in Pahrump that have claims or properties in Clark County. Look into those. Might be a bit safer in many ways.
