Hi all,

I'm just putting my shopping list together and I note in the book, Hoke recommends Porcelain casserole dishes 61/2inch and one of 31/2inch, which to my UK brain seems massive for for some familiarity tests. Can any one clarify please?

Regards,

Some test can be performed in test tubes, or a small beaker.

Corning porcelain casserole dishes are excellent to process in, I have not had trouble with any I have used, but I have heard they are not all made alike, some of the newer or certain types may not hold up as well (my dishes seem to be indestructible and can take the abuse), doing a search of the forum about the casserole dish may be helpful in getting a good dish.

Thank you both for replying. That size seems more like it! I just want to make sure I do it by the book as they say.

Best wishes,

I use a crock pot - works fantastic - no way to scrub any vapors though unless you use a chem hood so do this outside in dry weather. The crock pot uses acid resistant stone ware I've bought 3 different ones.

If you plan on using heat with those dishes be careful outside a cool wind will cause them to break, be sure to use a sand bath or stream bath if heating.

Been there done that
