hello everyone my name is Dave,
I'm a picker/salvager/scrapper/barnsaler/craigslister/ebayer in my spare time as of lately. I was recently allowed to pick through 6 homes that were slated for demo they were converted to apt units. We were there for victorian architectual details and items left behind by previous tenants. As it turns out one apt was a dentist office back in 1981 and in the storage was dental drills and aluminum crowns by the case, which for me was great art supplys so We took that stuff by the boxes home where we then found over 5 ounces of gold dental scrap 8) Normal oz not troy .Either way WE were like SCORE!!!!! Thats when I started looking for the best price on it and eventually ended up seeing one of lasersteves videos on youtube which lead me here. This might seem mumbo jumbo but I totally believe my life has lead me to this forum. I didnt realize what I was building at a previous job was useful to a refiner but i knew what it was for . My previous job title was lead mold builder/pattern maker at a fiberglass company where we manufactured acid proof pipe installations, fume hoods , scrubbers , demisters, and ductwork for large steel processing companys, coal burning power facilitys, ford motor company and the like. A job shop if you will. Since joining the forum and reading the build your own equipment section I'm being flooded with memories of building the equipment whats involved in the construction. The 2, 50 hour weeks it took me to build a scrubber...lol. what am i getting myself into....lol We also did repairs on the lines in the plants so I was made familiar with some chemical safety , not enough in my opinion which lead to me quitting the job as soon as i was made familiar with it and hence learned of their unsafe practices which they refused to comply with after i made it known what i knew. We made fume hoods but didnt have any in our shop and did we ever make fumes, they could easily knock you out.
For quite awhile Ive been seeking something to re invigorate my intellectual processes, most people dont get into things like this on their own, at least in my experience. But I personally think its fascinating, and hope my limited experience will be as much use to forum members as the information you all have so graciously given to the world for free.
Thank you very much
Dave
