How does a slowing economy affect society's neighborhood metal digesters?

Do people start hanging on to old machines, making free material scarce?

Maybe people get thrifty and start moving that old junk in the closet/garage.

Time for some refinin'. Wait, the dollar will decline and gold will rize again and we will be gettin' by like a fat rat out smartin' the fat cat in the big house on the hill.
