Hello everyone!

I am Daiene (Diann).
I am brasilian,female 31 years old and just decided to learn all I can about gold process.
Maybe it is too late to learn, but I want to try.
I have limited english gramma knowledge, but I understand very wellwhat is said.
I have under 10 grams of gold (assorted k. 10,12,14 and 18). My plan is recover that and get 24k.
I want to learn with this gold. My course is going good, nice grades, but I can not solder yet. The solder melts, but does not flow.
What I need by now is to find out with your help how to solder and how to recover my scrap gold. I really want to do it by my self. I am not lazy, I would read anything you ask me to.
Sorry about the spelling , and thank you very much for your time.
I will be waiting for some help when you can.

You can start by reading C. M. Hoke's book;

That will get you started in the right direction.

Welcome to the forum.

I am more familar with silver solder then gold solder but it should be aboutthe same except for the higher temperature of gold. It is just a matter of practice and you will find that there is a very fine line between the solder melting and sticking to your material and the solder just flowing off of your material. It is best to heat the object you are soldering to and let it melt the solder. Keep your solder close to your material you are working with so that it haets up aat the same time your material does. You will get to a point where you can tell by the color of the heated material when it is time to apply the solder to the material.
