Not a bad idea, the butane torch, depending on the size, may take a little longer than an Oxygen/Ace torch. Put a piece of Kaowool underneath, or an insulating fire brick, to keep the temp up. I would do it on a large table, in case you blast some of the foils out, they can be easily recovered. A pinch of Borax would help clean it up.

Hello, today's advice please?
I have approx 6 messed up coffee filters that are falling apart but they have gold foils in them.
I would like to recover the gold and I'm wondering if burning them with a butane torch in a melt dish is a good option, open to suggestions thanks
Steve.
As said, do not burn, the fact they are messed up indicates there are acids and metal salt residues in there.
Which can cause problems during incineration; health hazards and loss of values.
