I planning to start gold recovery from computer parts... And while Im learning about proces Im preparing other stuff.

Im interested only for Gold,Silver,Palladium and Plattinum.

Is there any method to purify my starting material. Example raw motherboards. Is it better to firs burn them in incinerator on temperature about 350 - 500 degrees C ( to get rid of unwanted plastic / dont judge incinerator have filter ), and then grind them, or to soak them in HCl, as someone suggested to get rid off other materials?

-So basicly what I will get if I soak them in HCl?
-Will ash ( leftover from incineration ) make problem for further reaction?

You are going to lose money; I.e. Get less than you would just out-right selling to a buyer...

why would you want to do that?

Why? To purify starting material. Do I need plastic in acid? NO. Do I need tin? I dont think so. Thats why. How can I loose material by removing plastic by low fire incineration and shredding material please explain to me?

I don’t understand why this is said so much. Here especially. If somebody is buying at the top they are going to be making more money. Not in every circumstance like as we see with eBay buyers but if you, say a smaller guy to start, buy 2000 pounds of high grade boards for $4 and get a return of $7 how is that not a profit. Let’s also assume you are not paying outrageous Usa worker and regulation fees. Why are you so quick to say it is not possible? Don’t take this the wrong way as an argument. This is for the sake of discussion.

Edit for assuming you have all the tools and space necessary and paid for to complete the process.

I am not a pro and know nothing but you need to reclaim copper too to make money. As far as I can see you need fire and water to do the job correct. Even with electrolysis an acid is used.

You should have an interest for handle cemical waist, enviroment og how to be a good neighbour.
You are a scrap man, not a refiner, and i say that because you ask about how to burn copper cables.
Sell your motherboards to a professinonel e scrap dealer, and sell your copper caple to a professionel copperwire schedder,we are in the same buisness and trust me you will get the best profit to do it this way.

This is wiered. Every video I wathed and tutorial I read, they usually smash starting material.

I believe the reply was asking why you would want to process the boards yourself as opposed to just selling the material. Not why would you want to reduce starting material.

I haven’t done any whole boards but it seems like a losing endeavor unless you are a copper refinery and if you were you wouldn’t be asking the question.

The best way from what I can see is to cherry pick certain things and then sell the boards and that way you only want to remove what you want.

There is probably more Value in tin and copper than precious metal. And I’m sure the margin is small to make profit.

If you are set up to incinerate the boards you wouldn’t be concerned with taking off plastic or tin you would just shred it all and process it all.

And I know for sure the forum does not endorse anyone trying to burn motherboards without a legitimate setup, definitely not in the back yard.
