Hi and welcome to us!
Gold is easy compared to PGM's.
They also carry some toxicity issues that Gold and Silver don't have.

Anyway for your acquaintance of the forum and general study I will include some links.

1. Read C.M. Hokes book on refining jewelers scrap, it gives an easy introduction to the most important chemistry regarding refining.
