Hello. I am Jim and I'm new to this whole process; so it's a bit of a learning curve for me. I have a lot of specimens that I'm trying to identify and figure out if it's viable to pursue.
Any and all help along the way will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you, Jim DeveneyIMG_20220307_062552_MP.jpgIMG_20220309_125709_MP.jpgIMG_20220307_061901.jpgIMG_20220307_062242_MP.jpgIMG_20220304_171637_MP.jpgIMG_20220302_051318_MP.jpgIMG_20220306_160021_MP.jpgIMG_20220309_010800_MP.jpgIMG_20220309_024224_MP.jpgIMG_20220309_024224_MP.jpgIMG_20220306_160115_MP.jpgIMG_20220301_135320_MP.jpgIMG_20220301_135320_MP.jpgIMG_20220303_070204_MP.jpgIMG_20220307_002750_MP.jpgIMG_20220303_071650_MP.jpgIMG_20220303_070220_MP.jpgIMG_20220307_062450_MP.jpgIMG_20220301_135527_MP.jpgIMG_20220307_062439_MP.jpgIMG_20220306_154849_MP.jpgIMG_20220305_193745_MP.jpgIMG_20220303_071603_MP.jpgIMG_20220303_072056_MP.jpgIMG_20220304_163937_MP.jpgIMG_20220303_070531_MP.jpgIMG_20220307_062751_MP.jpgIMG_20220305_194045_MP.jpgIMG_20220309_125755_MP.jpgIMG_20220307_062751_MP.jpgIMG_20220303_111240_MP.jpgIMG_20220303_072258_MP.jpgIMG_20220307_062439_MP.jpg

Welcome to the forum Jim.
We have a few members who are rock hounds but our general speciality is recovery and refining of known materials , ores can and are a real problem as there is no way to know what exactly is in them, many contain elements that are highly toxic and or deadly when mixed with acids or heat, you need geologists not refiners to help you unless you can afford proper assays ie full element assays to learn more.

Why is it a problem? There are dozens of English language prospecting and mining forums, plus a few hundred English language geology forums.

Do a little work. You should be able to find a few to fit most of your needs.

Time for more coffee.

I am no expert but I see a fair bit of Vugy quarts (spelling), and a lot of mica schist. You may have some specimens that are outside of those two primary rock types... lots of pictures.

They are both gold procurers but the schist is less likely in my experience.

If your seeking gold values you’ll need to crush and pan. Killer rocks, I would have hauled some of them home myself.

Vugy quarts... crush and pan. The holes are from minerals (iron pyrite) leaching out over time. Hundreds of thousands of years possibly.

Mica Schist, the layers give it away. Lots of shiny but not all that glitters is gold right....

Schists can hold gold. Depends on your location on this disc of a flat earth of ours....

Kidding. Earth is clearly shaped like a highly abnormal box with rounded corners that diverge into one another.

This one is hard to tell but the shiny looks like Mica. Super abundant in geology and not at all related to PMs.

I’d it shines in the light from one angle but not another, it’s junk. Metals have a fairly consistent glint, or glitter from all angles equally. For the most part.

I’m a rock nut. Love the stuff! Keep em coming.

BTW, I am fairly stupid so don’t expect to much. Lon
