I have been makeing my own nitric acid.I get right at 500ml of 90+ nitric from 2 pounds of sodium nitrate at a cost of 5 buck.Then about 5 bucks of sulfuric acid and then 2.5 to 3 hours work watching the distiller.Dillute that to 30% nitric and you have 1.5 liters at a cost of 10 bucks and my time . Is that a good way to go.I am aware of the danger of 90+ percent nitric and take special precautions when prepareing it.And not to forget the electicity to run the hot plate .

You numbers seem a bit off. you should get more yield out of 2lbs of NaNO. check around here for nitric distillation, Mine costs closer to 5 bucks for the 500ml. Even still, if you consider hasmat shipping, you still may be better off brewing it yourself.
