Is it the SAME thing

If you have gold in a solution and you add copper enough the gold and all metals above copper such as the platinum alloys will drop out.

Is it the same thing to take the solution containing small ammounts of gold and platinum and evaporate it down until it cannot hold all of the copper and some if it has started to precipitate, will all of the higher metals be precipitated out?

The copper will come out of solution as a compound, such as copper chloride, and not as metallic copper. Therefore, it is not the same.
