Is potassium permanganate preferred or even mandatory for any of the processes discussed in this forum?

I could get some for free from a water treatment contractor. However, it would be wet and contaminated with minerals and whatever else found in water being treated. Could that be a problem?

I see no use for permanganate.
You can create O₂.
But is probably cheaper to use a bottle if pure Oxygen is needed.
