I copied an moved the orginial as I did not realize I posted it to the wrong
forum.

Went to Kmart today, I do not think that they have upped the price of thier jewellery since the increase in gold prices. I got what I hope to be
good price on several pieces that were 14k and sold for 20.00 each, red tag. 2 sets of ear rings, 1 bangle braclet, and 2 rings, total invest 107.50
tax included. I do not have a gram scale so when I get them weighed when I go back to work I will let you know. You may be able to hit your local Kmart and score. If I get 7grams or more gross I think I am doing pretty good and may go clean them out, after processing and verifying the gold content ;}

I would not jump in for more that I could afford and I figured being a
real store the gold jewellery has to at least be close to the karat marked. I would not be looking to flip that jewellery but to refine
and keep for future. I have baught fingers and stuff and paid nearly as
much as this and knowing the yeild would never be close to what I will get
from this 100.00 investment. I have checked ebay, and everyting on there is over priced including scrap, putting you way in the whole before you even start. I do not know why anyone would pay the prices they do for the stuff on there, even karat. It always goes over spot then you have chemicals, time, and the fact like you said that you do not get spot
when you try and sell.

Although I have not been refining long, I do have a good eye and feel for
gold as I have been prospecting for a few years now and have found
it in its natural state. I do agree about the scale and if I would have had one with me I may have baught every item they had marked for 20.00 each even if I only got a net gold value of 15. - 17.00 it as a investment would have been worth it to me.

So you can see if I net 3 -4 grams of gold .995 I will be happy and I am pretty sure that I will net in the 6 - 7 grams range from the weight in hand feel of the metal but as that is subjective I will wait and see.
