Looking for someone to do a toll refineing test.

Over the last few months I have been able to buy almost 100 lbs of SD cards. Most are in the small Mb range and i can resell these pretty well. But, I have accumulated about 25 lbs of SD adapter cards. The only gold is in the contacts. Because these are for adapting the newer tiny SD cards there is not even a small circuit board or memory chip inside.

What I would like to do is an experiment. I will pull out the guts of 500 of these and send then to an experienced refiner so I can tell how much gold is recoverable and then split the payout with this person. Does this sound reasonable?

They seem to be flash plated, so my guess is, they will yield comparably to glucose strips or gold plated china (2400 pieces or 2400 cm² per gramm of gold).

You probably need to find out who you are going to get to process this and then see what they feel comfortable in processing. You should process 1/2 lb to 1 lb of the metalic contact part of the pieces and even then with the small amount of gold on these items they will need a good scale to read the yield value.

Also (I could be wrong) but I believe the pins are kovar or SS & not brass which makes them a bit of a pain to process by normal procedures - there are some specialized processes that would work (if they are not brass) but you have to know what you are doing

List them on ebay - like 5 pieces for 1$. You will make more money this way.
Numbers can be sold mainly that you are in USA and people do not need to wait for them to be shipped from Hong-Kong.

I think that Pat and Kurt have given you the correct financial advice.

It's good product for learning to refine but the yields truly do suck. A lot.

Edit: Trade it on and use the money to buy some better product. Anybody wanting to make money from this should always do that because it saves a lot of time and vastly increases the potential returns for you.

5 cards cost me .10¢
total $1.21

I guess I will stick to selling in bulk 100 for $12.50 + free shipping
at 1 or 2 orders a week I have a 1-2 year inventory.
