Hi,
So I have about 50g of SnCl2 powder. Can I make a stannous test solution from it?
I have tried dissolving it in pure H2O, in 34% HCl, and in ethanol. All the time I have been left with a liquid that is colored white, but it should be a clear liquid. Even the tiniest amount of SnCl2 changes the solvent's color. Should I try heating the solution?
I basically have the possibility to make it out using Sn + HCl method, but this requires me to go shopping .
