Does anyone know some good sources of mercury? Thermometers contain to little to be worth breaking them. I have heard that some electric switches contain it.

Yes, most thermostats for home heating/cooling have quite a few grams. I've taken a few apart, and I found they contain about 10g of mercury.

You can also talk to a repairman, many times they keep the mercury from broken switches and dispose of it all at once. I know one such fellow who had a milk jug with a few inches of mercury in the bottom, glass and metal bits floating on top.

I work in a salvage yard and have found mercury in the light switches under the hood of cars and also in the trunk lights. They have been using mercury in the underhood lights of cars since the early seventies.
