So until this morning I never knew that metal credit cards existed. Sure we are all accustomed to the plastic card with what looks like a SIM card imbedded in it.

My wife was trying to destroy a card today and it has a white metal core with thin plastic stickers on each face. It looks like a standard card but feels only slightly different. As I got to pealing at it I found a silicon chip with visible gold bonding wires under the SIM footprint. The metal has a hole in it to allow a cavity for the chip.....

Does anyone here know anything about this tech? Sure seems capable of processing a lot more than the small surface mount chips you see on most cards or the like.

Though I’m not great with google I couldn’t find anything that mentions any difference in tech over a standard plastic card, just that they feel like better quality cards....

Anyone know what’s up with these?

My guess,
Radiofrequency RF activated cards are common?
An antenna in the card's circuit can receive a signal from an RF signal generator activating and powering the chip inside the card, which itself is able to send a radio signal or data back to the receiver of the original transmitter.

New technology and its use is just the beginning of what's coming or is in use with electronics today.
Today our electronic devices can interact with each other, or do things we have no knowledge of what they are doing.

I am not a huge fan of this internet of things plan they are moving forward. I am boring and have nothing I care to hide but I don’t like the idea that everything we use is spying on us and reporting back to home base.

Crazy. Funny that the perks and interest rates are looking to be better on the premium metal cards than their plastic counterparts.

Hahah! Everything! is recording you and selling it on. It’s so scary all I can do is laughs

Also in side all cards are embedded copper wires. My company uses copper leads. The rest is sheet polymers just laminated and pressurized. This is plastic ones.

Metal cards with the RF it’s aluminum 6061 body. With an adhesive based polymer for the design logo.

Contactless payment is the wave of the future. With the advancement in technology. Unfortunately it grows faster than laws can be passed.

Privacy only exist without a smartphone. That’s just not happening. The government does listen. Only to radicalized people.

GPS tracking basically can show an individual’s whereabouts in real time while on a smartphone. Look at murder prosecutors. Pretty standard in court to use that data against people when being prosecuted.
