John, Battle Creek, hobby-novice only. 20 years until I retire and can prospect & refine full time. Sadly the wife does not share my enthusiasm, and gets very very upset when I stain or corrode the countertop and sink!

By all right she should get upset with you. You should not do your refining in the house you should be doing this outside. You need to realize the dangers of doing this inside the house and the possible health problem you can cause. Not to mention the damage to the inside of your house that you will not see till it is too late and you are not able to reverse the damages. These damages far out weight any money that you will make in this endevour. And your response is going to be well Irun my vent a hood when I am working sso do this, put a pot of water on the stove and bring it to a boil. Turn the vent a hood on and watch what the steam does. our fumes are going to do te same thing as the steam.

lol....you gotta love barren.
Listen golddigger,he's being nice. The truth is,these chemicals are so rediculously carcinogenic, that within a short period of time you can easily develop, one,or several types of cancer...
Not to mention the adverse effects it can have on your brain. The last thing we need is a member dying from processing material irresponsibly.Something like that could have devastating repercussions on not only your family, but the forum. We need to make sure the members are acting with due caution and care,so that nothing negative comes back to them or the forum,or the gold refining community as a whole.
Barren is trying to help you,I hope you realize that.
