Hey all my name is really Adam but I use the name Nostradomus not because I think I am prophetic or anything like that, I merely admire the man and his pursuit for knowledge. I am 29 years old and from Lansing Michigan. I have done metal scrapping for many years as I am a contractor by trade and have had many opportunities to make extra money with the waste from job sites and companies I have worked for and with. I have only recently wanted and started learning about recycling or recovering gold and other precious metals from electronics. I have also in addition to being a contractor have spent a lot of time repairing PC's and other electronics but only very recently realized that I have been sitting on a lot of extra money in my " bone yard " of parts. I am not just interested in making money I am also a gold investor and avid learner of all types of knowledge and always looking for a new skill. I look forward to networking, learning, making money, and all around having fun with life and a new hobby that I can hopefully turn in to a business in time. I am not afraid of reading and I am always looking for new material to further my knowledge I am currently taking the guided tour and acquiring the suggested reading. If anyone has anything else that they found useful when beginning please let me know I would love to learn from your mistakes instead of making them myself although I am sure I will make plenty of my own but that is part of the learning process, right? Either way thank you for reading my introduction and giving me your time.

Hey Adam
I'm Billy Scott...B.S....Yes, I'm full of it too...

Glad to hear you are here to learn instead of the usual Gimme now my gold people.

Read and learn away and find your direction as us all do. You'll be supprised what floats your boat in this field.

Here's a kicker to get ya thinking:
Anything and everything that uses electricity is likely to have some PM.
Anything with a switch for instance probably has some silver sitting there. Silver is great at keeping itself clean while shooting start-up and stop electricity to where ever.

Something to think on.

B.S.
... Also check out Auctionzip.com in your area. You can find a great steady flow of not only PMs, but also tools for the trades...

Welcome. I grew up in Flint, Mi. Moved to Texas about 5 years ago. Actually my sister lives in Lansing right now.
I graduated from Kettering University back in 2000-2005
Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. The Guided Tour is a great introduction to the forum. I always recommened a complete reading of the Safety section of the forum, especially the Dealing with Waste topic. No amount of precious metal is worth jeopardizing your health or the health of those around you.

Download C. M. Hoke's book. You'll find links to both screen readable and printer friendly versions in my signature line below. You'll see her book mentioned repeatedly here on the forum for good reason. It is probably the best book ever written for the beginner who wants to learn refining. It is written in layman's terms and will provide a solid foundation that will help you understand everything you read here on the forum. You'll also find a tremendous amount of information in the two Forum Handbooks compiled by aflacglobal, Forum Handbook Vol 1 and Forum Handbook Vol 2.

Those should give you a good start,
Dave
