This simple siphon does not disturb sediments on the bottom of the vessel as it draws from a side port. The end of the tubing has been blocked off with the port cut just above the nylon plug.

 
Great idea Rusty and much simpler than bending glass tubing, which is what I did years ago when I was making wine.
