I've spent a lot of time reading as much as I can on this forum. Amazing amount of information. I took many chemistry classes in college, but now I realize that I forgot just about everything. Sometime in the very far future, I might attempt PM recovery, but I am nowhere near capable at this time. I've been collecting miscellaneous e-scrap from family, friends, craigslist, etc and I have close to 50 lbs of mobos, server boards, RAM, etc. I know that is really not much of anything, but I haven't put a lot of effort into finding scrap because I don't have anyone to sell to, except for shipping out of state. Any chance that there is someone on this forum in CT that is interested in buying? I'd love to have the chance to get to know someone from around here. Thanks for your time.

chrispk,
Welcome to the forum, the things you can learn here and the friends you can make may surprise you.
I hope you enjoy all of the information the forum provides, which helps one to learn about precious metals, I know I sure do.

Hi Chris, I live in Mass. near Rhode Island but work in CT, and drive to Tolland every week. Any chance you are near Hartford/Tolland? I'm always looking for gold fingers.

Ken

Thank you for the replies. I've been reviewing this forum for months now. Initially, I was planning to collect as much PM bearing material as possible, do a lot of research, then start a small "simple" refining process. Now, it is several months later and it is obvious that refining is not for me right now. I would love to build a small operation, but there is so much knowledge needed (not to mention the safety concerns) that I am going to spend many more months researching my options. Besides, my wife won't allow me to "play" (as she calls it) with chemicals. She said that if I can actually learn by working along side someone for a while, she might consider it. So now I am still collecting material and breaking things down. My 7 yr old and two 3 yr olds really enjoy helping. Also, I live near Durham and work in Hamden. Driving to meet someone is not a problem. Thanks again.

Congratulations on finding the forum, and kudos for displaying awareness of (some of the) critical factors; eg;

1: 50 lbs of mobos is not a lot different than nothing.

2: no way on the face of the earth would I even think about chemical refining with little babies running around.

I don't have kids but no matter how much I bend my brain, I can't seem to reach the place where I would want to do chemical refining. I'm OK with that decision, I hope you are.

There's lots and lots to learn about the individual processes and some very, very qualified teachers here.

Welcome!

Ken, I don't have enough posts to send a PM. I was wondering if you are still interested in purchasing fingers? Are you interested in anything else like pins or boards? I'm starting to accumulate quite a bit of stuff, and my garage and basement are running out of room (along with my wife's patience!). I work in Hamden and live in Northford. Thanks,
