Hi All,

All I can say is WOW! There is so much information here. I've been an antique dealer for 15 years and constantly come across karat gold and gold filled items. I've always sold them and never (until recently) thought of recovering and refining the gold my self. I plan to go slow, learn everything I can and then start to supplement my income (and build some savings) by recovering gold from the items I find. Every night for the last few days I've read through this forum and have gone to bed with my head spinning. Sometimes it seems to lead me in circles but it never hurts to read thing over and over. One question to start with, many of the posts are three, four, five years old. Has anything changed in recent years to negate older information? I'm looking for a place to start (other than this wonderful forum) and I think it time to read C.M. Hoke's e-book and order some DVD's from Lazersteve. Does that sound like a good plan?

Rob,

Start with the Hoke Book, the Guided Tour (below), and my DVDs if you are a visual learner.

Thanks Steve. I'm working my way through Hoke's book for a second time, I've also been through several topics in your Guided Tour and I've ordered one of your DVD's. Now I just need to set up my work station, procure the required supplies and round up some material to experiment on.
