Hello everyone, My name is Dave, and I've been tinkering around with this stuff for a while now, As a close Aunt is a Chemistry professor in VA, and have had encouragement to experiment from a young age. One thing iI have found, is that all the degrees in the world will not replace first hand knowledge. I have been readin sooooo much, it's overwhelming at times, let-alone, wanting to jump from one project to another(gotta quit that). Anyway... Just wanted to introduce myself, and sit back and listen(read), so as I dont get into trouble with a large batch.

Well let me say welcome to the forum! It is refreshing to hear, that you come from an indirect background of chemistry, but want to take the time to gain the appropriate knowledge before you jump in head first! Commendable.

Thanks, The Ex-wife says I'm an *****, but I'm no dummy! I've done experimental batches of a few things, and learned real quick, that as simple some of these processes are in theory, one must develop an "eye" and the "feel" for these sometimes non-compliant reactions/variables. Cant believe how easy it is to get frustrated over a test sample that might have $5.00 worth of PMs' in (or out of) it! One of my bad habits happens to be sitting up all night seeking out other people's mistakes, and/or hang-ups; There seems to be many more ways not to succeed, than there are ways to get it right. I figure I'll run into more of the former, before I can master the latter.

Already experiments with pure chemicals wont always do what is expected. Thats why I have great respect of more or less unknown composed solutions made of scrab. Our hazmat officer says: In a new accidents we are all beginners. I think a cbrn-accident has much in common with hobby recycling, there are basic skills like safety, research, practice and theory but in real life I know that I KNOW nothing. Throws the first stone who never has burned his fingers! ;)

Welcome to the forum ! these guys are great and as long as you use the search feature and keep the Language clean ( don't post after drinking a whole bottle of wine like I did :p ) You will get along just fine. These guys are in the know when it comes to gold recovery and refining. I'd also like to say it's best to just read search and when you post keep on the subject of gold . Opinions and arguments are best left alone  . This place is about GOLD and other PMs !!! Have fun and keep reading .

Thanks, I appreciate the welcome. I cant wait till spring.. Buffalo winters make it challenging to conduct certain procedures outside, The anticipation is killin me!
