Hi all, Found this Forum while looking for some information on the "Simplicity Refining system" from Shor.
I have had a quick look at some of Steves videos and downloaded Hokes Book.

My interests are in Gold detecting, Gold Dredging and for the last 9 years have a very small scale buisness selling Gold Nugget Jewellery which I create.
I reside in "The Golden Triangle" in Victoria.
I have a bit of scrap jewellery and scrap nuggets which I would like to refine.

Any feedback on the Shor unit would be much appreciated.
Not sure of the advadiability of the consumables for the Shor unit in Australia.
Or are there other ways to refine by building your own unit?

Cheers Paul

As a refiner, the Shor system has always interested me, technically, but not enough to use it instead of aqua regia. I have studied all of Shor's patents and their operating instructions and I know very well how it works. Even if someone were to give it to me for free, I would never use it. Aqua regia works too well. Technically, the Shor system is an oddity. I may be wrong, but there's probably not a professional refiner on the planet that uses the Shor system. The only users are borderline suckers who have bought the system.

With aqua regia, there are 100s of people on this forum that can help you through it. With a Shor, you are basically on your own.

Shor is said, by many members who own a unit, to provide lousy technical back up. Shor keeps its system a mystery. No one seems to be 100% sure of the chemicals that are used.

Thanks for the info.
I need to do alot more research on this forum.

Cheers Paul

Acco,

GoodDay mate. Welcome to the forum. I like your Avatar.

Save yourself the 600 dollars, or 900 aussie dollars, seems to be the general consensus. Even by numerous Shor owners who come here to get help when they run into trouble, and can't get answers from Shor.

Take your money saved, and put it towards something more useful, like suds for your mates at the bar. LOL

Seriously though, look into finding some basic chemicals used on the forum. Then look into local waste disposal facilities, maybe your local Landfill. Maybe create a plan of what your overall goals in refining are, ie. (Hobby, Profit) Hobby is fun, I imagine profiteering would be time consumeing.

Good Luck,
Nick
