Hey everyone and reading a little bit through this form the last couple months I just finished Hokes book I've done some small-scale melting with some map gas and crucibles on my own I would be very excited to start using the aqua regia process I would really appreciate no one telling me that I haven't done enough research I've been looking into this for about a year now I have 99% of the materials I need I did order the kit from shore international and I am planning on purchasing some scrap gold online and seeing if I can bring it to a higher purity and that's about it pleasure to meet you all

Hi Jerr113 - welcome to this forum!

Your first post sounds good until "I did order the kit from shore international".
Their products are either standard chemicals or a mix of them but labeled new.
Cancel the order, if you can.

If you tell us what kind of material you've got, you'll get a lot of help to proceed it.

Don't expect profits if you buy scrap gold and sell it after refining.

And please use punctuation.

Welcome to the forum.

OK, I won't tell you you haven't done enough research.

Shor isn't very highly thought of here. They sell common chemicals under their proprietary names at prices higher than you can probably find locally, and they don't provide much support.

Finding scrap at a decent price is one of the most difficult problems in refining. Finding it online while competing with far too many other buyers is more difficult.

You'll find everything you need to know about refining here. I wish you luck.

Thanks for the helpful advice so far. Luckily was able to cancel my order from shor, besides purchasing online most of the scrap gold I have is from circuit boards, gold fingers, pins and CPUs. I am definitely not expecting to make a big profit however it would be nice to be able to pour a fairly high purity piece of gold. I did also buy some muriatic acid at my local hardware store but I'm not sure what the best option would be for the nitric. Would it possibly be better to just spend a little bit more money and get the real stuff or no?

Does the shor kit AR3G aqua Regia not work? I’ve seen people have issues with the salt based one. Just wondering as I’m new here too.

Read Frugalrefiners comment.
If used right, their chemicals work, but that is also true with the much cheaper non branded products they rebrand their stuff from.
Shor, basically sell over the counter stuff as packages rebranded at a much higher price.
They do how ever set up packages that are more or less complete, at least as I understand it.
