Besides recovering/refining PMs, I know some of you collect scrap metal also.

Today was trash and recycling pickup. They took the trash like usual, but left my recycling. I called the borough office and they said, that the certian types of plastic from vacuums, water dispensers, etc., are considered "industrial" and they won't take it.

They never had a problem taking it for the last 2 years. (It's just the plastic that's left over after separating the scrap metal) I have the proper recycling containers and labels for them.

Since all of the pieces of plastic have the certain markings and the borough office shows the types of plastic they take #1 - #7, I should be a smart *** and buy 7 recycling containers, get the labels, and mark each container for #1 - #7 and put everything in it's proper container, just to show them that each piece has the proper marking on it.

I'll probably just order a small dumpster. :| Just more money out of my pocket.

We make fortunes out of plastics.
Most plastics, when sorted and clean, are worth way more than scrap metals.
Polycarbonate, acrylic, hmw to name a few are selling for a few hundred $$ a ton.

If you sell your scrap steel and your aluminum, you should sell your plastic too. It will pay you more...

Regring / repro is a great market if you get a decent volume.
Check for local injection / extrusion plastic shops, they always need cheap material.

I've looked around for places to recycle my plastic, but they're either too far away "Florida, etc." or want atleast 10-20 tons and it needs to be ground up first. I only get around 100-300 pounds every week or 2 depending on what scrap I get. Thanks for the ideas on other places. I'll keep checking around.

There supposed to be a plastic factory opening up near by, but they've been saying that for the last couple years now and the building isn't even built yet. They're still blowing out the hillside.
