Hi guys,

I have been buying plated jewerly because I can get it real cheap, my question in would I be better off spending the money on pins. I wanted to buy some pins on ebay but they seem so costly per lb. Just wandered if the yeld was appropriate for the cost of pins.

I know there is not much on the plated jewerly but it looks to be more
plated area than the pins and I get shoe boxes of it for about 10.00.
or some large pieces for .50 each.

anyway I am not planning on making money just want to get the best I can for what I got.

thanks,

Jim

Plated jewelry is very easy to process if you have a cell. You will be hard pressed to make any money whatsoever buying pins on ebay. The market is dominated by guys who have no concept of yield and bid emotionally. If you have a cheap source of material, that is your best option.

Picked up 6 pounds of mid-hi grade fingers for $180! I bid all the time but rarely win anything. People are really getting hosed. It's too bad. I imagine a lot of people don't even refine/recover. They'd be better off buying overpriced bullion or Pokemon cards.

It's as if there were some kind of gold craze going on. i am always looking on ebay for the gold scrap, but the prices dont reflect refining costs. i dont get it. do the sellers just thing we plop the material in some machine and the machine does all the work? ebay scrap is no way to make any money. i saw someone wanting 20 bucks for 4 CPUs. crazy!
gold karat content tends to be alot higher on computer/ electronics than GP jewelry, but dont let that discourage you. especially if you can find trinkets for so cheap.
good luck!

It's a sellers market. You can't blame the seller for the prices (ok you can blame some like the 2oz.of fingers for $20 guy) The buyers are determining the price. There seems to be a whole lot of people out there who have more money than sense. Once this imbalance is corrected, scrap prices might be half-way reasonable.
