Hi,
I'm ready to process some pins in my sulfuric cell. The only item I needed was a manual battery charger. I then happened upon this plating machine at an auction. Its a Selectron Power Pack Model 6035. Will this be efficient or overkill? The amps seem adjustable so I think if I keep it around 8 ill be fine. Does anyone know about this plater or of a link for a manual on this machine? More info on it would be beneficial.

Respectfully,
Mike

I have not been able to get a picture of one. If I can see a meter that goes up to 10 or 15 amps, then I get the idea that such device can produce that. If I see a voltage adjust knob that runs 0-20 volts (or whatever, not saying at all that you need 20 volts) then the two of those elements would lead me to believe it would do the job for you. If it can do 8 amps, you should be in good shape.

But....from what I can tell, it is a sensitive "lab" type of instrument. IF IT WORKS, it seems like a nice piece. IF IT DOESN'T, then it might cost you more to fix than a dozen ordinary car battery chargers. Get my drift? Me, myself, I could fix it. Your mileage may vary.

Edit: It is a mil-spec 60 AMP power supply. Voltage unknown. A bruiser! Previous admonition still applies. If it's busted, it'll cost to fix it. If it looks like it's in decent shape, without acid spills all over it, it will probably work because it's mil-spec. If you get it cheap enough, it's worth $20-30 on a gamble, that kind of thing.

I'm trying to post a pic from my kindle gallery but I keep getting an invalid file message. Its a very clean unit. I picked it up for 90 bucks. Included was a heavy metal locking bench/cabinet, lots of plating chemicals, beakers, graphite rods, drying racks and other plating paraphernalia. The DC voltmeter goes up to 50 and the DC amperes goes to 60. It looks like you can set the time frame to run with an alarm enunciated when it reaches 0. It also has a switch to reverse polarity.
