I have this melting place lined with kaowool. Some of the silver powder are obviously attached to the kaowool. How would you recover the metals attached in the kaowool?
1) Scrape the kaowool, get all of the fibers where silver powder is present then melt in an acidic flux?
2) Incinerate the kaowool? I don't think this will work.
Basically we use the kaowool as insulation for melting in clay crucibles with a torch, these kaowool surfaces decay over time with heat. I think it would be better to use refractory bed materials so that processing will be easier, but I'm not sure which is safe to buy for my application.
