Hi everyone,

I don't know if i'm even posting in the right place, but, the point is, I'm completely new to this exciting world of recovering and refining metals, specifically gold :G , the reason I registered in this incredible forum is this, I recently through an online auction site in my country ran into a 64ton lot of pyrite  , initially, I thought I could sell it as ornamental stone, o perhaps even maybe sell it to a company that could use it to extract sulfuric acid, then I read that this is currently a sub product to oil extraction, well, somehow I also came across some webpages that state that, a minute amount of gold could be recovered out or pyrite, and my interest arose and now I guess I'm reaching out for guidance, (a lot of it since I really don't know much but I'm very diligent about learning stuff I'm interested on)on basically, is this even possible, or is this just a waste of time and resources, should I find a better use for this mineral, and if it is possible, well I sure would like to know the best way to extract the metal and refine it, I know this sounds a bit too much to ask, but I could really your kind and wise information.

Thanks in advance.

Your first step should be to take a representative sample and send it for an assay to find out if it has enough gold to make it worth the time and effort to try and extract it.

What Nick is pointing to is that "some minute amount" may or may not be worth refining.

Say, for example, you have one gram of gold in there. What are the odds you can refine it out of 64 tons of material for less than $43? Very slim indeed.
