I studied chemical technology of oil industry so I wasn't explained how exactly redox reactions work. I have (in America +/- are swapped):
I2 +2e-> 2I- standart potential is +0,536V
I3- +2e-> 3I- -0,545V (triiodide complex)
Au3+ +3e-> Au +1,50V
Au+ +e-> Au +1,68V
so why iodine dissolves gold?
