refining gold filled with iron

hello everyone. i been a away for a while so i thought i find my way back n here with what may seem is another question i should already have the answer to, ....when refining gold filled items that are plated over iron, what is the best method to approach these or am i better off just selling them to someone eles more willing to tackle this acid consumimg project/
