Greetings ladies and gents -
I am new to your fine forum and to this point have posted nothing, I've just been lurking around and reading your posts.
I have a strong background and knowledge of inorganic chemistry and industrial processes. I've long had the fever of interest in precious metals, but my interests have mostly focused on prospecting and acquiring gold from its original geologic sources. I’ve had some pretty good success with that over the years in my own personal efforts. I also write for a magazine which focuses on prospecting and mining precious metals. My degree is in Mine Engineering and I’ve mined and extracted gold and silver on a commercial scale here in Nevada.
You certainly have a lot of interesting information and I've been very impressed with your ability to bring a hands on and practical but safe approach to the process of recovering gold from electronics scrap. I have dabbled with this myself in the past on a very small and simple scale. I've recently inherited about 4.5 pounds of fingers from a friend who passed away. I'm in the process of digesting the base metals (pretty much all copper). I don’t normally get involved in that part of things, but hey the fingers were all fully separated from the plastic components and ready to be processed, and I already had the nitric on hand and ready to use. I just had to look through my stuff and come up with some clean beakers. I came to your forum just checking to see how you all were doing it, and like I've said, there is a wealth of very practical information here.
In any case, cheers, and thanks for hosting such a fine, information packed forum.
