Hi
We have a fairly large tails dam which has fine material - it's P95 distribution is sub 75 micron. The whole tails dam has fine carbons specs or particles, similar to soot, at a concentration of 1.4% of the total mass of the dam. These carbon specs are acting as preg-robbers and restricting the recovery of the gold to around 23%. Also, they have a fairly high gold loading. We need to separate these carbon particles away from the fine silica sand. We have tried flotation unsuccessfully and are now looking at Hydrofloat classification as a possible solution. If anyone has any experience with this type of problem, I would appreciate your input.
Thanks!
