I found a beer - wine making site that has both Sodium Metabisulfite and Potassium Metabisulfite, is there a difference between the two in regards to how we are using it?

Thanks Palladium, I wasn't too sure if PMB would work or not. But it appears that it will, just need a bit more of it. The prices are about the same, well actually not I guess since you have to use more PMB than SMB. That was just on one website that I saw this stuff. It was easier to check it out via my chair than try to remember where the local shops are and drive there. When I get to that point of needing to get any, I'll check local first.

Why do you keep posting that this is a free volume to read up on how to refine gold? The first thing that happens when one clicks on the site is a bigging warning that it is covered in goo from all kinds of virus and spam? Cant you post a clean...danger free site for us newbies to check out?

This is only a service given by "TinyURL", to warn you that you are entering a site linked from a shortened URL.
Basically, they want to keep their behind covered. That's it.

You are perfectly safe clicking Palladium's links.

theres nowhere local to buy SMB where i live. id have to drive almost 100 miles round trip to buy from a retailer so i just buy mine from Ebay. if you allow the chlorine to evaporate or neutralize the free nitric acid in your solution 5 pounds will go a long way.its a little over twenty dollars to get it delivered and id pay that much in gas to go and buy it.

ive done that with plain table salt. drill a large hole in the middle (or several if its a large stump) and put salt in it.

I think he means this. Bonide stump out. http://www.bonide.com/lbonide/msds/msds271.pdf

Home Depot or Lowe's.

Geo, he meant the "Stump-out" by BONIDE, used for removing stumps; its sold HomeDepot & other hardwrae stores. Its SMB.

P.S. You beat me Palladium, It takes me forever to wrrite somthing!

ahh. ok, i will have to see if lowes or home depot carries that.

Try your local garden centers too. Make sure it is Bonide brand. Some other chemical stump removers are KN03.

Speaking of potassium nitrate, has any one added it to AuCl3 by mistake? What happens??

I don't have much in me that wants to experiment...
