Gold foil. So beautiful...
This is on a camera I'm currently scrapping for fun. Picked it up at Goodwill for $3.00 just out of curiosity.
I'll post more pics and a video later with all that I found in these two beasts. Got the polaroids just for the sake of scrapping.
I always wanted to own one since I was a kid and saw Keven Mcalester in Home Alone 2 playing with them.
Edit made to change title. Found more correct name for this device. It is a "Sonar Range Finder"
"The transducer most frequently used with this module is the instrument-grade Polaroid electrostatic transducer (see figure 1 for its specifications), which acts as a speaker in the transmit mode and a microphone in the receive mode. The transducer (shown in photo 2 and disassembled into its component parts in figure 2) is 1.5 inches in diameter and consists of a 3-millimeter gold-plated foil stretched over a concentrically grooved aluminum disc."

This is a PDF document. You should check page 7 in the bottom right. You'll see that the picture I've posted is the smaller of the two 7000 series.
Two Polaroid cameras being torn down for scrap. The first camera isn't so great. Second camera is pretty nice.
